No speeches Poem by Björn Kuhligk

No speeches

(for Tom Schulz)

NO SPEECHES, the light
should take its lead from the shadows

nothing clear, no road map
a jumble of voices

a beginning from which, perhaps something
completely different too, who knows

e.g. snow drifts in August or
a bowling alley that's not hired

next day, for this is what we wish for, a mouth
that speaks, an ear to which a promise can be made
