No Self Worth Poem by Andrus Cassian

No Self Worth

To this day, there a lies a sheet tied around my neck, a noose
Pulling ever tighter, a guillotine for the broken
the broken and blind for how I was blind
deep in the murky waters of a child commanded brutal social hierarchy
playing the same mental head games to try and get ahead
formulating archaic blueprints to worm my way into their system
somehow topple it, somehow overcome it
come out the other end like a champion, a rebel, a hero
disassembling the status quo, changing it forever
That's what every picked on, agitated, fearful kid always wants to do
wants to accomplish
but all we accomplish is wanting what we can't have
Being a part of what makes our lives so unbearable
being a part of the group claiming to be sculpted marble
the false standard of how we should live
the false standard of which we should be glad to exist
Isn't that the definition of a bully
Why do these things still exist
Why must we torture ourselves
with this precognitive degenerative affliction
these questions pop up like candy
but no one has the answers for these cavities
so like a dentist we just cover the holes
and spew advice meant to not hurt
but shows we also don't care about self worth
Life lesson today, kids
Self worth does not exist
