No One Wants The Child Poem by Reva Kern

No One Wants The Child

Nobody wants the child -
A curled-up silhouette
Ice cold
In the middle
Of a dark alley -
Dull eyes look out
in innocence
The face changed
Into one of grief
A distorted gaze
Imploring whoever he encounters
Nobody wants the child - OH!
In the middle of melting ice and snow
At least at this moment the world
Is beautiful, though so very cold -
Nobody wants the child - OH!
In a dream lying undiscovered
At least at this moment the world
Is beautiful but phony
Nobody wants the child - OH!
Abandoned the desire for one
At least its dying can free oneself
Although this is very cowardly
Nobody wants the child - OH!
Search for an angel
It can carry you to heaven
Have clothes and food
Not have to worry -
Sunshine disperses the darkness
In the alley
Warming the heart
But the child's body
Is already so stiff
And in warm sunlight,
He is still not moving
Cold ice enters the marrow of his bones
Daybreak is warm
Before the moment when dawn comes
The dark withdraws
Oh! The ice cold world.
