No One Is Ever Ready To Be A Parent Poem by Kellie Teter

No One Is Ever Ready To Be A Parent

He isn't ready for this
no matter what he says
he is beyond frightened
of the idea of having a kid
As my belly grows
his heart beats faster
he's not ready to be a father
He holds me threw the night
and places his hands
on our new life
and when he feels it move
it all feels so real
and he can't even begin
to describe the way he feels
but I know exactly what he
wants to say
when he looks back at me
his smile tells it all
he's not ready but
neither am I
But this little person
is making us tough
and we will take
what life throws at us
each day at a time
no one is ever ready
to be a parent
and if they say differently
they are lying

No one? Ah! can you speak for all those of us who plan, hope and anticipate the joy of parenthood. There is another side to having a child although tis true your poem says it well for the youths who experiment with premature fire. Read mine - The Bloom of Youth - Adeline
