No, Not Me Poem by Kalee Skriver

No, Not Me

The rain falls as you look my way,
My heart is spilling out, I know I can't stay.
This storm inside chills me to the core,
Your heart touches mine where I am most sore.

As raindrops fall they freeze in mid-air
I push down this aching and tell you I don't care
But don't listen to my words, for its not alright
All I know is that I don't want you to leave my sight

Yet, things are not the way you thought they'd be
Who I really am is not who you expect to see
The rain clouds are full, almost overflowing
You need the kind of day where the sun keeps showing

So don't worry about me, I will only bring you down
By my side, you will only drown.
Seek the sun, and the joy She will bring
Then your life can finally begin again with Spring.
