No Longer At Ease Poem by Ama Alma Okigbo

No Longer At Ease

Rating: 5.0

As your conscience strikes your body as the whip hits your back
As your mother dies and your house is burnt down
As you pay the penalty for pulling a dirty stunt
As I say to you, you are no longer at ease
When beads of sweat drip down your face
When the rain is no longer your ally but an enemy
When your life is put to risk to decide, either for your job or
family
When I say to you, you are no longer at ease
