Night In Iowa
Nimbus clouds erasing stars above Lamoni.
Jaundiced lights. Silos. Loose dogs. Cows
whose stench infuses the handful of homes,
whose sad voices storm the plains with longing.

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
Maya Angelou

this poem reminds me of Ginsberg. the mark oof a really good poet is in the strength of their short poems. i think anyone can write a 4 page poem, and somewhere in it will be something memorable and touching and talented. but the great poets can always touch your soul just as well in a hundred words.
