Night Flight Poem by Andrea Bailey

Night Flight

Night Flight
It is with Man
that I must live,
but his society can”t give
someone who is different like me
the simple freedom to just be.

I work a job
all through the week.
for safety’s sake, should any seek,
a human form is all they see
I hide the dragon that is me.

When week is done
I steal away
and seek a place where I may play
and for a while I can be free
to be the dragon that is me.

I drive away
into the night
far from Man and city light
into the wild where no one will see
I become the dragon that is me.

Then dragon wings
and dragon flight
rise into the dead of night
to ride the storm clouds wild and free
and be the dragon that is me.

come the pre-dawn
dark and cold
I shift again, My body mold
so human form is all they’ll see
I mask the dragon that is me.

It seems sad
that I must hide
and in human form abide.
to live upon this world you see
it is myself I can not be.

Always in your corner (Andrea)
