Nice Words Heard Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Nice Words Heard

Nice words heard,
With an acceptance...
Of them spoken.
Are not always the best words,
In certain situations...
Are in need to hear them,
Delivered directly.
And made clear to hear,
By those long divorced...
From delusion and fantasies.
Kept to keep a way of life,
Slipping more into a detrimental...
Quality of it.

Those nice words heard,
Spoken to speak to avoid reality.
And the seriousness,
This has caused to permit.
Should be obvious,
Of what this avoidance has cost.
Not only to those still conscious.
But also to the ones,
Determined their addiction...
Fixed to fiction is for them,
Normal.
An habitual function.
Smothered in dysfunctions.
Left to leave many to expect,
Their efforts endeavored...
Protesting against truth to face,
Is beneficial.
And...
That day will come,
When truth and reality to live it...
Will fade away replaced,
By tasteful escapades.
On a daily basis to 'trip',
As far away as possible...
From reality.
And any hint or clue,
Truth to refuse to hear about it...
For them never existed.
Giving this as an excuse...
And reason,
Not to take seriously...
The quality of their lives!
