New Mexico Agenda Poem by Helen Vann

New Mexico Agenda

There are so many of us
Now
Who have passed...
Beyond breathing
Beyond being seen
In the body and
Many bodies here
Who care
Are here
Caring still:

Winds blow tides change
Come and go
Today left Maya Angelou-
Where do you think
She's gone?

With all those ancestors
From before
Full of love and care
Too deep too wide
Height depth width breadth
Length so tall or not
Anything to be contained:

Now comes our way
As Sons and Daughters
Between Beyond
Span Good Peace Freedom
Now on the up-up-now here.

If your plan to destroy
Consumes your 'sup
Yourself you'll destroy
As others survive
To live with soul
Our love to thrive!

So choose this day

Your.Our.Own.Path

If harm you choose
Yourself you will, sadly
For we want YOU
Here with us too!

No time for waste as
We find our way
To make the most
Of each new day-
Bright and clouds
We'll build the best
For all as
Religionists and not
Bow to truth
Losing hurt that harms
Now moot.

So choose your path
AS only you can do:
We to celebrate
With all
You true!
The love of many
Now is plenty.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
aka Sunprismhv. The title and the poem incidentally related, as Maya Angelou had passed that day, I listened to her poems, 'On the Pulse of the Morning' others, quotes, then sat down and found a page where I had written, 'New Mexico Agenda, ' preparation for a trip to Santa Fe/Glorieta for a Memorial on May 4th 2014... for my Mother, Mary, Uncle Bill, and Aunt Stella who had passed within five months of each other.
