New Dawn Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

New Dawn

Rating: 5.0

The new dawn is rising and colours are living
They reach out and touch me inside,
As the soft dappled clouds in the skies slowly drifting
Upon morning breezes they ride.
The joy I've been given so precious the treasure
A gift only God could bestow,
Of life and its meaning that speaks to me clearly
In nature's most wonderful show.

For gold is the sunlight that glistens through branches
The beams of its glory it sends,
To the lands of the morning absorbing its riches
Caressing the garden it tends.
Filling my soul with a passion that flows as
The blackbird does sing with such grace,
The threads in hedgerows are shining in silver
And spun now with fine silken lace.

The new dawn is rising and shadows are melting
I longed for this day to arrive,
The darkness has lifted and woken the flowers
Which through the cold winter did strive.
The daffodils wave and are lit by the beams as
The dew slowly dries on the ground,
For spring has arrived as the blossoms now glow
And I know that true love I have found.

Excellent work with the formal stanza structure and such beautiful images of light coming through headges and the motion of the daffodils of spring.I wonder, did you choose the gentler steady rhythm and ing femine endings to evoke the peace and slow progress of springs arrival?
