Never Going To Last Poem by Ray Hansell

Never Going To Last

I'm trying to find the right words
That I want to say
I want them nice and neat
Not in total disarray

I have missed you lately
Probably, more than I should
But I wouldn't give you up
Even if I know I could

Your intelligent conversations
Always hold me spellbound
I just can't and won't give up
On what we both have found

Two hearts that seem to be
Going in the same direction
Two people who I am sure
Could use some real affection

So many years of near misses
Have haunted me at night
Right now I feel I'm so close
To the truth finally being in sight

I hope this doesn't shock you
Or, make you want to walk away
Because you know if you do
I will search for you each day

I hope you have no regrets
For reaching back to me
What I want more than anything
Is your face one day to see

But if my words frighten you
Than, turn and run real fast
Because a one way relationship
Is never going to last
