Neil Lennon. Poem by THE HOLY POET

Neil Lennon.

His antics on the sidelines are that of many fans
Speaking out or standing fast but all he gets is bans.
These are his emotions and the passion that he feels
And he pays again with deathly threats which most find so surreal.

Is the world against him? Is he on his own?
Well, at Parkhead sixty thousand sang, You’ll never Walk Alone!
Before that there was “The Huddle” and what an awesome sight
I’ve never witnessed scenes like that so he’s doing something right.

He’s brought unknowns to Glasgow, now they’re known worldwide
And fans have filled once empty seats, cheering on their side.
At first we thought you’d lost the plot but you proved us all wrong
Maybe more of us should keep the faith and leave you where you belong.

We’re playing the way Neil Lennon played, winning every ball
And I have to say, with a bit more flair yet able for a brawl! ! !
Life for you’s a fairytale but the nightmares came to haunt
And when you showed your inner strength, some used more than taunts.

You’ll overcome those threats and the courage you have shown
Has brought home to every football fan, why you’re the King on Celtic’s throne.
We won one piece of silverware, this season’s Scottish Cup
But look out all you who disbelieve, this club is on the up.

What a difference one small year makes and I think it’s down to him
And as changes ring around Paradise, it’s great to be a Tim
With a heart full of thunder and steel in his eyes, a craftsman at reading the game
He’s our manager at Celtic Park and Neil Lennon is his name.
