Nature. Poem by Joel Mbowa

Nature.

So boldly, so sculpted you stand.
So rich, so pure you are.
So artistic, so seasoned you prevail.
So detailed, so unique you move
So scented, so natural you captivate.

In black, white, red,
In yellow, green, blue you present yourself.
In space and the waters,
In vegetation and the scenery,
In the animal kingdom you manifest yourself.
East or west, north or south you exist.
You are all around us.

You flow, you move.
You cry, you sing.
You crawl, you leap.
You shout, you whisper.
You fly, you swim.
You shine, you darken.

We ought to own you,
Or you will disown us.
We ought to give you our best,
Or you will give us your worst.
We ought to harness you,
Or you will degrade us.
We ought to embrace you,
Or you will discard us.
We ought to keep you
Or you won’t keep us.

You are our home.
You are our refuge.
You are our dwelling place.
You are our Nature.
