People from all over the World are Welcome to my beautiful Mysore
To participate in the Ten-Day Celebration, Dasara in Mysore
Dasara is the celebration of Victory of Good over evil
Mother Goddess Sri Chamundeshwari is the Vanquisher of all evil

Legend has it that long ago the Buffalo demon Mahishasura haunted Mysore
He could shape-shift into different forms and torture people of Mysore
He had the boon " not to be killed by man or animal ", didn't mention woman
Goddess mounted on a huge Lion and beheaded him, showed the power of woman

The battle took place for ten days and he was killed on the tenth day
Goddess was victorious, Vijayadashmi marks the celebration of that day
The huge, cunning and fierce demon and his army were swept away
Goddess was here to protect Us and restore happiness, What else to say?

Long ago the Demon Mahishasura was a real terror
Goddess slayed the demon and saved people from horror
Legend has it that all Divine forms united to form her One form
Our land is blessed ever since with bliss, prosperity and reform

People wait hours to witness the Jambu Savari, the Elephant Procession
Sandalwood trees, Abundant Flora and Fauna are a great possession
