My World Poem by Eddie Armstrong

My World

I live in a world where normal is something abnormal
to have no elegance in this world seems to be something formal
Those of us in this world all live in our own dark abyss
and those in the real world look down at us in a world like this
Most don't know the difference or act like they don't care
about the path that we follow that is leading us nowhere
We will pretend or act like if everything was just fine
and our priorities then become lost as the same does our time
We never even noticed we went past the point of no return
now to change what we're used to is something new we have to learn
In the beginning it was all just fun and games
now our youth is spent and we are no longer the same
those of us in this world all have one thing in which we can relate
its that personal issue we avoid which makes us al the same
I'm alone in this world with strange people all around
except i wear a huge smile that is always turned upside down
i hope one day the criticism that fuels my own agony
finally reaches the end and I'm accepted for who i chose to be

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
when i wrote this poem i was feeling alone amongst people that i really didn't know. What inspired me to write this was when i saw to great people with so much talent walk in, except they are what we call chemical dependent individuals. Realizing where i was at that precise moment and remembering when i was a child hearing stories or trying to imagine people who are in that world and what they were doing. So what i saw was that they had no worries in the world and lived life expressing happiness but really just making the best of every situation they are in. I did notice one thing from asking questions that we all have one thing that pushed most of us into this world. It was someone we love putting us down or us never satisfying them in some way. I was able to relate to them
