My Sweet Old Lassie Girl Poem by Cin Sweet

My Sweet Old Lassie Girl

Rating: 5.0

Rest easy my sweet old Lassie girl,
For I'm holding you tight now,
Lying right here beside you,
And know that I love you so very much,
As much as anyone has ever loved,
So don't worry my sweet old Lassie girl,
Your work is complete now,
And the job has been so well done,
Just sleep now my sweet but weary Lass,
Close those tired fading eyes,
For mine can keep the watch
This one last time.

Sweet Lassie let's share it together my dear,
One last fine dream of our before,
When we ran through the green hills,
And those damp foggy moors,
With our bodies so young then,
None of this pain to endure,
So let's drift off together while we still can,
And for awhile we can be as we once were,
We'll leap through the low clouds one last time,
A dream for old times' sake for sure
But more a dream for the sake of us two,
And this great love shared between me and you.

Don't you worry my sweet old Lassie girl,
Nothing could get me to leave your side,
And though you've needed me as much as I you,
I know it's for my sake you hang on now,
But dear at night I see your little chest heaving,
Feel your heart straining so just to keep beating,
Dear we both know you soon must go,
But I just want you to know I will be okay,
In the time that lies between your leaving,
And the time when we shall be meeting again,
So don't worry my sweet old Lassie girl,
I'll be okay 'til then.
