My Dog Has Died (For Gwen) Poem by Cin Sweet

My Dog Has Died (For Gwen)

I'll remember you,
Every time I see the green,
That paints our rolling hills,
When the weather turns to Spring,
I'll close my eyes,
And oh how I will dream,
Of all the times we ran together,
Through our hills of green.

I'll remember your eyes,
That way you looked at me,
How when I turned around to see,
You were always there, watching me,
I'll close my eyes,
And oh how I will dream,
Once again I've turned around,
To find you watching me.

I'll remember you,
On every New Year's Day,
How on that day several years ago,
We met while running in the rain,
I'll close my eyes,
And oh how I will dream,
That I'm running on New Years Day,
And I'll meet you in the pouring rain.

I'll remember you,
And how we used to play,
You running circles 'round me,
With your ball, daring me to chase,
I'll close my eyes,
And oh how I will dream,
Once again you'll be running 'round me,
With your ball and daring me to chase.

I'll remember you,
Everytime I lay down to sleep,
Your body curled up in a ball,
Laying snuggled up next to me,
I'll close my eyes,
And oh how I will dream,
Once again you will be curled up in a ball,
Snuggling up next to me.

My Gwen, I know she had to go,
And though it isn't quite yet Spring,
I'm certain that her spirit and soul,
Must have gone to our hills of green,
And when I've closed my eyes
And had what's to be my final dream
Spread my ashes please in our hills of green
Where my Gwen will watching, and waiting for me.

It's sad when people have to say goodbye to their beloved pets. I can feel your love for her, and also your pain in losing her in this poem. I can see the 'hills of green' too
