My Stutter Poem by Luke Bushen

My Stutter

Another day come and gone
And still I lie in wait
Awake, I question, how long
To wait until daybreak?

The toss and turn, the rubbing raw
Clicking on like clockwork
Hope looks like a skinny man
Hungry, and out of work

Keep on your guessing: a lie or closed eyes?
It fits you so very well
I smell disaster while I hear laughter
You're far as far as I can't tell
