My Soul Doth Long For The Lord Poem by Wakefield Mahon

My Soul Doth Long For The Lord

Foolishly, I laid my plans in my own wisdom
Likewise, I trusted my own strength
I took on a friend, equally weak
Together, we tread wrong paths
Two blind fools muttering half-truths and nonsense
In our foolishness, we bore a child
A child of my God who I will not betray

My soul doth long for the Lord

Grant me true wisdom that comes from your Spirit.
Make me trust in your right arm.
Resurrect and sanctify this broken matrimony so abused and corrupted.
Guard my children
Lead them in right ways
May they never know the sin I knew
May they never tread the path of fools
Rather, give them wisdom
Have mercy and hold them not accountable for the sins of their father
I plead in Jesus' name
Amen

My soul doth long for the Lord
