My Secret Affair Poem by Herman Hoyte

My Secret Affair

Rating: 5.0

I extended my hands
Took hers in mine
Guided my arm
Gently around her side
The tempo starts
The music runs
She follows my steps
Our dance has begun
My feet lead
As we begin to glide
As one we coast
Growing closer with every stride
She directs my hands
I check her eyes
I read her thoughts
We're ready to fly

Everything's go
Its perfect all around
We slowly power on
And gradually lift off the ground
Breath hot in the cold
As one flesh we race,
Me steering her gently
She guiding me with her pace
Our minds blend, as we ascend
Climbing to our nearing end
This masterful dance
A physical song
Beating and throbbing
As we canter on

We peak, her energy drains
I relax my control
As my mind strains
I bring us back down
Gently kiss the ground
Softly lay her in bed
And power down

Relinquish my grip
Let her dream on
Take the keys and go
Our adventure is done
Engine secured,
Post flight walk around

I trudge to my home
Lost and alone, for,
Who'd want to compete
With such passion, such heat?
Who wouldn't complain?
Who'd be second to an airplane?
Who'd tolerate I?
Who'd see what it is to fly?
Who'd comprehend?
Who'd understand?
Who'd love me and care?
Yet, still allow my affair?
Who'd be content and share,
With my lover in the air?
