My Plea Poem by Ashok Suresh

My Plea

A little river, a little beach,
pretty forest, silver mountains,
red brick home and a pretty girl
is all I hope to see.

Why are you disturbing me
in my pursuit of happiness
I neither want power nor money
please let me be who I want be.

Why do you want me to believe
whatever it is that you do
I'm happy here with
all I already know

Why do you think that I should fight
and why do you say that I'm either
with you or against you
won't you let me go my way

My friends, my family
my culture, my cuisine
my religion and my country
please don't take away.
