My Path Of Life Poem by James Harris

My Path Of Life

It seems that I spend too much time running from my life
Avoiding every rocky road or path that might have strife
Constantly at odds with the man I was supposed to be
When I look upon that supposed man I turn around and flee

The courage of the bravest knight is what I wish I had
But at that first smell of adversity I reveal myself a cad
My reflection in the mirror is so not the man I want
A Ghost of wasted potential is quite a terrifying haunt

Let me turn back on my heels upon the darkened road
March ever forward now before my courage does erode
The Road of Life to travel on, can be a terrifying thing
Put better to walk upon it than see your life drifting

One foot in front of another leads me down the path
Shedding all my old failures that filled me so with wrath
So now it seems I spend my time walking toward my life
Trying my best to conquer this road in spite of all its strife.
