My Old Friend Poem by jason medina

My Old Friend

You have come yet again my old friend
to throw me back into a dark descent.
A fall that seems to never end

I understand that this is a part of life
but why have you taken so much that was mine?

Have I wronged you in some way my dear friend?
For you to be so cruel as to deny me my rest,
and stand idly by and listen to my cries
as I watch my world die.

Oh have I the darkest of eyes.
Yet still you are not satisfied.
For in time you have seen me rise
and though the pain thrives;
immortalized in my eyes.
You have come to add to my scars
and take another peace of my heart.
You have come once again
you who represents end.

But can you not see that niether of us can win this time
We have grown side by side
and each know of the others stale pride.
But you will not break so niether will I.

You will not give up and I will not give in
And here we stand face to face in the calm of the wind

You will take again because you must.

But when all things end
you and I will be all that are left
So until then
or until we meet again
Farewell, my old friend
