My Mind Speaks! Poem by Clarence Prince

My Mind Speaks!

Rating: 5.0

My Mind Speaks!
My mind says to me, I should write
Then as I start, all words begin to hide
All I could see was the writing pad
With the pencil in my hand like a rod
I went out and sat me on the porch
Gave up sitting inside on the couch
While my mind yet speaks to me
Still saying I should write
Finding words wasn't lithe
The wind blows and the rain falls
Water runs down drain pipes off walls
Seeing the rain, for the garden's sake, I was glad
The long shortage of rain, it was just too bad
The falling rain and the heavy whirling wind
They flushed out the hiding words
My brain then starting to recall
I couldn't fight my mind, not at all
Words fly back to me swiftly like a kite
As my mind speaks again, I should write
Hence what you see here, is what I write
Nothing much only something quite light
With words you don't have to fight
That my mind speaks, and that I write
My mind speaks to me!

I like this. I like this very much. It's like we're sitting at a coffee shop, chatting about this n that, sharing writer's blocks, waving at old buddies walking by. It's got a personal feel to it. Great write.

Mind flows spontaneously while thought comes automatically for writing. This is very interesting to know about speaking of mind and your imagination is full of skill and learning.10

favorite lines so far: The falling rain and the heavy whirling wind They flushed out the hiding words My brain then starting to recall I couldn't fight my mind, not at all...........................whirling wind is especially nice for me. and the rest of the poem is very nice as well. to MyPoemList it shall go, and to my/our AUGUST 2016 'a showcase for PH poets'. thanks for such a grand addition to the showcase. but i wonder: did things really happen as you say in the poem? either way, it is a fine write. i like all the rhymes near the end. bri :)
