My Lover's Masterpiece Poem by Obed dela Cruz

My Lover's Masterpiece

Today, I walk to see how the colors of life array
And form a rainbow, painting hope’s emblem in the sky
Where ev’ry dream has a chance after a stormy day
As the Art of Life stays within, though seasons go by.

To give a velvet coat for the beggar in winter’s street,
Then provide a white robe for a sinner’s tainted soul.
Let the Artist paint this portrait for our eyes to meet,
Hoping ev’ry observer to realize their role.

And even though a Painter’s mind seems to be abstract
As to the Poet, His words scribed in the name of art;
Wise imagination lets colors and words attract
Until understanding matures in the human heart.

Roses to the broken spirit, let them serve as gifts
Because crystal as the starlight are the flowing tears.
Yet deep within, the rise of the golden sun now lifts
For the spring’s brighter dawn which was longed for all these years.

For in that day when all the lovely brush strokes combine,
This fine art will never be rare in literature.
So it shall be when life’s springing forth from words benign,
Out of the mouths of nursing infants are praises pure.

But as of this time, no matter what the critiques write,
I’ll still tell to myself, “Be secured with Heaven’s Kiss.”
For I can see the Artist and His works day and night
Because after all, I am my Lover’s masterpiece.
