My Lonely Island Poem by Jack Abdallah

My Lonely Island

Rating: 4.0

I never thought that we would be
A perfect pair like lock and key
This love was strange even for me
Yet in your eyes im lost at sea
I swim to shore and still it's day
No time to waste you're far away
I search the land upon the shore
I cannot find what i search for
Begin to dig beneath the sand
To find a chest was that the plan?
Found shells and rocks and sand is all
I then decide i must search tall
Above the trees with ease i climb
No sight no sound just wasted time
I fell apart no one around
Again i saw no sight nor sound
Then night began to slowly creep
I was alone i could not sleep
A moment's thought then searched the bay
Maybe night's light differs from day
My restless eyes like stars above
I could not find the one i love
For once i thought i must give in
There's no love here she's still with him
Then shook my head tears down my cheek
Of dreaded words that i so speak
My breaking heart i could not mend
Once was a dream is now pretend
