My Kind Of Love Poem by Mariam de Haan

My Kind Of Love

Sometimes I want a man
To hold me tight
And kiss me goodnight
Then be gone in the morning
Nowhere in sight
So I can feel loving
Just for a moment

Then I realise I'm better
I won't succumb to desire
Give myself to a liar

I want more than a one night stand
I want someone to hold my hand
Never let go 'til the end
Not just as a girlfriend

To wake me up in the morning
And tell me how beautiful I'm looking
To come back in the evening
And tell me he'll never be leaving

And when you ask my lover
'How long will you be together? '
'Don't you want to divorce her? '
'Or maybe when she's older? '
This will be his answer
Hell no, not ever
I'll be with her forever

And I know it sounds like the fairytales
That I'm not Cinderella
There is no Prince Charming
So maybe I'll wait forever
Maybe I'll die in the morning
Maybe my plan is a fail

But I do know this
I am no one night stand
I won't give myself to a man
Who'll leave me after a moment
Make me feel like nothing

And I know if my faith is strong
Then God won't let it all go wrong
One day I'll have my family
A man to call me 'honey'
And even if I die lonely
I'll still have my dignity.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is one of the first personal poems I am sharing with the world. It is about my reasons to abstain. Some people may find it offensive or over the top but I still decided to share it because I want people (my fans) to know me for everything that I am.
