My Invisible Friend Poem by Kelly Abbey

My Invisible Friend

In the darkest moments of my life
You were always there
Camouflaged in the shadows of my surroundings
When all I could see was the darkness
And the hopes of a better life
Was merely a speck of light in the distance
You were always there
Lingering in the shadows
Nudging me ever so gently to the light
When my sorrow became to much to bare
Trapped in my own self pity
You were always there
Always knowing what to say
With your words of encouragement
And your ability to always
Make me laugh and smile
The light had become bigger and brighter
With a few more nudges
You whisper
'You're almost there..Be strong..You can do it'
The light it became so bright and blinding
I closed my eyes
Turned around and reopened them
When the sting and the blurriness cleared
That's when for the first time
I truly seen you
My invisible friend

I will forever see you now
Thank you
