My Heart
My heart stops beating.
I hold my breath.
Why keep going?
Darkness waits.
Should I give in?
Should I fight?
The darkness cradles me.
My conciseness slips away.
I float.
An abyss embraces me.
I awake.
Numb, unfeeling.
My mind is foggy.
I’m unable to move.
My heart beats once.
It’s become a chasm.
It beats twice.
I close my eyes.
It no longer beats.
