My Gift Poem by Leslie Alexis

My Gift

One look at her and I slip out of reality
In all her ways, she is untarnished
She seems untouched by human frailties
A work of art
Shaped, formed, molded, by the gods
To be one of their own.
He made her for him - he made her from his bone.
Of all his creatures and wonders,
There is none so sacred, so special or
beautiful as you.
Of all his creatures, there's none with a heart so pure
so pleasant or
so true!
I don't know how I got someone like you,
I'd say he read my dreams, saw my heart, heard my wishes
But that he did not do -
For mere human minds can't comprehend the splendor
That's you!
A gift you are, that I can see
Too special a gift for someone undeserving as me.
A gift I treasure with all of my heart,
A gift that engulfs me,
I could never part!
