My Galway Poem by LIAM BREHONY

My Galway

Rating: 4.5

My home is a place here in Ireland,
renowned for aran sweaters and lace.
Also known for it`s beauty and compassion,
entwined with good manners and grace.

And if you travel to this dear island,
not knowing what might lay in store.
Why not take a trip down to Galway,
it`s a place full of hearts galore.

We have a love of our tradional music,
sure you`ll hear many songs on the street.
Smiling faces is a must, in Galway pubs,
as the music brings an additional treat.

Sure our colleens they are of much beauty,
always open to have a banter with you.
And thier sincerity is all around them,
as they explain what you must see and must do.

If you are feeling a little bit peckish,
fish may be the menu that sounds just right.
We`ve got many mouth watering dishes,
but our salmon`s a worldwide delight.

When the time comes for you to leave Galway,
and your stay finally comes to an end.
I`m sure your heart will be painfully missing,
the good times you shared with new friends.

I sure miss Connacht. Connemara in special and the warm homeliness of Galway. An unpretentious city that sure has a lot to give. Thank you for taking me back there, Liam. I wish I could salmon-leap back there with the same age I was then.
