My Face Is Black, But My Heart Is Red Poem by Qeeony Luv

My Face Is Black, But My Heart Is Red

My face is beauty,
This I see,
My hair not clouded with someone else’s,
Natural as I choose to be,
The ancestor,
Hmm if they see me,
They’d be proud,
I’m not ashamed to say,
“I’M BLACK AND I’M PROUD! ”
The hope and the love of the brave,
My heart so free of burdens,
So light,
So very right,
Blood pumps though my soul,
I have a heart just like you,
Do not patronize me by my psyche,
It is the truth within,
The cage I’m in is very small,
Sometimes I fill like a made up doll,
On the other side of scales is not justice,
To me it is freedom and race,
Can I choose who I am to be?
America the home of the brave,
We shouldn’t live in a cage,
My faces lights up like the solar eclipse,
I will not be shackled by the past,
I am the narrator of my life,
The magister of my essence,
The one who breaks me,
Also the one who makes me,
The first one who believes in me,
The one who keeps pressing on,
The one, whose faith hasn’t wavered,
The one with the knowledge,
The young lady who wants to go to college,
All the people who told you can’t,
Drop them,
Who didn’t believe in you,
Drop them,
If they don’t support you,
Drop them,
Get rid of all the pain,
In the end, you realize it was you in the beginning.
