My Dog Poem by Sherri Vogel

My Dog

Rating: 5.0

Food, water, bones, and a walk
Are four words my dog would say if he could only talk.
He'd say lets play ball but don't throw it too far
'Cause I don't want to get run over by that oncoming car.
Let's not play 'roll over' it hurts my back
For my stomach is getting a bit too fat.
I'll jump through the hoola hoop for some Peanut Butter Crunch
But not just a little I want a bunch.
He'd say 'play shake' what a total bore
But if it makes you happy I'll do it once more.
Don't give me a bath 'cause you know I'll try to bite
And it's not polite for me and you to fight.
He'd say how about some popcorn, I'm hungry, I'm ready for a snack
I'm sorry I ran away but you knew that I'd come back.
He'd say now I will go to sleep 'cause my stomach is so full
But when I wake up I want part of your Chocolate Chip Cookie laying in my bowl.
Although he is demanding and loves to get his way
He always makes me happy every single day.
When troubles seem to surround me and I'm feeling kind of down
He licks my hand to show me he'll always be around.
Not only is he my friend he means everything to me
My favorite dog in the whole wide world is what he'll always be.
