My Dearest Friend Poem by Maria Jose Cid Velazquez

My Dearest Friend

Today dreams at night agitated
The memories I have
My whole body trembled
Little drops flowed and crushed my heart.

I was dreaming, joyfully dreaming
That we were eight or nine
We were happy at lunch talking
And smiled every time.

I was happy, too excited
And willingly I embraced you tight,
So much glory, so much happiness
The day was sunny and light.

We grew older, yet friends
We helped each other
And we trusted each other well
Afterwards a hole spread
My nightmare started there.

Mountains and rivers were in the hole
And soon my friend I wasn’t home
We talked less time, days passed by
Work and other stuff occupied our time.

We made our lives full apart
I missed you every night.
Then I saw you, too late, my friend
just your body under earth and rain.

I couldn’t bear it,
It was too much pain
I love you friend…
My dearest friend.
