My Day Of Reckoning Poem by Ray Hansell

My Day Of Reckoning

As fragile as a light bulb
Held in trembling hands
The day that you left me
That’s how you left this man

I stood there silence
For I could not speak
My heart had just been broken
I felt so very weak

I wonder what I’ll do now
With no one here to love
I always thought my star
Would shine on from high above

But now it shines no more
At least not for me
My day of reckoning is here
The day I thought I’d never see
