My Coffee, My Story Poem by fera nugroho

My Coffee, My Story

sitting at the corner of my dream
i tasted my coffee
dripping from the brim of the wavy sea
i tried to meditate in a single drop
of my story

when life is hard, things get rough
and you put immensely heavy pressure
to the beans...
then my coffee
be as bitter as the black espresso
i still love the crema, though

when life is good, things are fine
and you are more than just kind
the beans be roasted perfectly grand
milk and cream nicely blend
sweet and sexy latte
dances in my mind

as i dived deeper
into my jamaican blue mountain
i instantly felt
the strong taste
of sour life you brought
i know this is real

so i sat back and let my head rest
the taste manipulated my minds
strong as the dark of the night
i just can't deny the sour taste
that lingers in my tongue

quite predictable...

you came with sugar to offer
you wished to conquer 'the sour'
and you proved yourself wrong
the sweetness you poured into my cup
intensively strengthened the sour taste
of my coffee
of my story

if you ask me
i prefer to play it solo
black
and bitter
