My Brain Is Faded Poem by Emmanuel George Cefai

My Brain Is Faded

My brain is faded
Months ago
It received
The shock to fading
And now
And now
It fades
It's faded.

No, it is not so. It may seem so, but that is because the brain is overwhelmed by the losses it must categorize. But that will be a finite number, however big it seems initially. Do you know the Kubrick/Clarke film 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY? At the end, an astronaut has to disconnect the higher functions of a maverick computer, which has become mutinous and murderous. And the machine begs him to desist with the lobotomy, DAVE, I CAN FEEL MY MIND GOING. THERE'S NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. IT'S GOING. I'M AFRAID, DAVE. Do not go gentle into that good night.
