Musing On A Shirt Poem by GRANT FRASER

Musing On A Shirt

The cowboy shirt
at the side of me
on a hook,
hangs just a tid,
more over to one side

it is red checked!

I know you cannot really
see it, but it is there,

it has pearl buttons
and is made in Denver,
Colorada,

I love part of the cowboy
image obviously,

denim too, chore jackets,
that sort of thing,

even boots, the engineer one's!

Americano
knows how to make clothes,
Union of course...

I'm really bored, actually,
and don't really know what
poetry is...

is it instantaneous, is it living
proof, is it your word or mine,

I mean the shirt was literally
hanging there in the great void!

but it's a door of some kind
and more real than all the claptrap
of mystique,

I am a man waiting inside,
I suppose,
waiting to go shopping,
awaiting next week or year,

then I suppose I will disappear
with the rest...

the shirt too, will disappear
too, no doubt,
and time will prevail,

all of us - simply no more!

the red checked shirt
goes off to one side!

The red colour might fade but memory won't
