Murder In The Backyard Poem by D.N. Rebb

Murder In The Backyard

There's a murder in the backyard
Come quick and have a look
Confided darkness must be on guard
And be wary, as they could all be crooks

A still blanket, with mournful feelings
Gory silence, ever so frightful
A dispatch that came from stealing
Documented way back in the bible

There's a murder in the backyard
An unfamiliar shrilling raucous
Hairs on your back leave you scarred
Time to separate the cowards among us

Still wish for tamely blinking?
What a shrewdest sensation
Are you still needing more convincing?
Don't hover on hesitation

There's a murder in the backyard
From what unsuspecting source was it created?
This is not the time to fall apart
In fact, you need to feel more infuriated

How charmingly involuntary
Misshapen resourcefully bold
And always challenging ready
For explanations that need to be told

There's a murder in the backyard
Come quick and have a look
With what company we kept, we now need to discard
Some guts is all it will take

There's a murder in the backyard
Grab a large pot and a wooden spoon
Bang them together really hard
They'll fly away and join another commune
