Mr. And Mrs. Avocet - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

American avocets who
Are Mister and Missus do be,
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo,
Prepping to build a nest for we.
Good site for nesting need be found,
And so the two birds look about
For a nice safe place on the ground,
Very near the water no doubt.
When the site's found, both birds then dig
A shallow hole and bring to line
With twigs and grasses, not too big,
Till both conclude their nest is fine.

Mister and Missus do collect
Nest stuff for a future 'eggs'pect.
