Moving On Poem by Alex Morris

Moving On

We spend our lives looking,
For that someone to trust,
Enough to give our heart,
And share in our secrets.

You may think you found,
Someone worth trusting,
But one day you'll realize,
They were just, pretending.

Do what you can,
To act like you don't care,
But slowly you'll see,
You need them like air.

Don't give up my friend,
For this is not the end,
Don't close all your doors,
You'll meet someone new soon,
Who is your world and more.

And if they are not,
The right person for you,
Please do not feel happiness,
Is far out of view.

It gets better with time,
Not easier, I dare say,
Break down and cry,
Shed a tear, it's ok.

But be strong for yourself,
And the people that you know,
Learn from this pain,
And together we shall grow.

For this is not,
A time of sorrow,
A bright future we have,
May yours begin tomorrow.

It is up to you,
To make your own choices,
What to do and how to feel,
Or listen to the voices?

The choice is yours,
Which path to take,
Be strong and have faith,
Or to bend and break.

I leave it with you,
One last piece of advice,
Make your choice and stick with it,
Don't look back,
Don't think twice.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
My girlfriend made a choice in her life to move on from me. I wrote this after the last night we were together. I found it helped me move on a great deal. For anyone who has loved and lost somebody in their life.
