Mourning Poem by Alexander Foald

Mourning

Rating: 5.0

Pondering over the white shadow
That falls behind our back, following us
It can bring me down to tears, it can lift me up
Either way, it’s just a small gift to remember the past

Walking alone like this, listening to the ocean
Against the sand, my feet trace back through the time
Where I found you at the corner of my world
Sitting there by yourself, like asking me to come over

I held your hands, you told me everything
We shared the same feeling, lonesome feeling
The day was as clear as today, and no clouds hanging above
It was such a beautiful day, a right time to live our love

Years came by, felt like dreaming through a long night
Enduring hardships together, our happiness forever
And when the time has arrived for us to be apart
We promised to maintain what we built, and never said goodbye

If only I could held you tight, I’d never let you go
Too much asking now feels like I’m the one who’s selfish
Listening to the ocean, I’m wondering if you were there
Watching me from a place that’s only half-world far
