Mountain Man- The Mission Impossible Poem by Kumaara Sukeja

Mountain Man- The Mission Impossible

MOUNTAIN MAN- -THE MISSION IMPOSSIBLE-?
' Make way, make way- -'
A settler may petition the Mountain
'- - What are the grounds for your stubbornness
to stand, forever, still?
What provokes you to spray
frenzied land-slides,
across your expanse
only to shoo-away the intrepid climber?
Only letting- -
in a friendship, quirky- -
a goat or two to freely graze...
Is the grumpy goat, for you, a symbol of the Holy Spirit? '
Man, surely, pales in comparison- -
sloppy, appearing forever sluggish- -
while the nimbler, free-spirited goat
is timelessly sprightly!
Most men born free, too, but
are, schematically,
bred to be docile, and, willingly,
surrender to enslavement and
serve mechanically as cogs
in the wheel of fortune
to satiate the ravenous appetite
of a hand-full of their own ilk, for a life-time.
You, the sage Mountain are savvy- -
perceiving the presage- -
You snigger through a heave-ho snort
at the Unmaking of flesh-and-blood beings
into the life-less Dead.
Then, in a Millenium, Arose,
One Man,
from among the mediocrity massed meekly, below, who,
summoning his will power alone
shrugged off, nonchalantly,
all the ungainly robes hugging his rebellious frame- -
Cloaks, which hitherto,
were shrouding his sensibilities
with shades of self-doubt and,
clouding his teeming instincts
with tinges of fear of the Unfamiliar- -
You, the Immortal Mountain
have seen him before- -
The Semi-Clad Warrior- -
The Epoch-Maker; in another Era...
Carving up the unruly seas.Daring the hostile deserts.
Furthermore,
Catapulting himself
to challenge
the Wind-God in his den.
You, therefore,
may not mind, some one
like him
determined to stir-up
a lot of hoary dust of your back!
A teasing tickle for you,
tantamounting to a mile-stone
for the enterprising soul.
He might have shaken up your smugness- -
Then, again, stirred you also, sufficiently,
to share,
a kinship that unites
Men and Mountains,
in a pervasive sense of serendipity.
