Mortem(A Tribute To Dr. John Dele Ajala) Poem by Kenneth Egwu

Mortem(A Tribute To Dr. John Dele Ajala)

Upon a time, my name
Will remain tethered and dismembered
Like an ace in a lost game,
As my wraith is remembered.

Stripped to these wasted bones,
Breathing the ashes and dust,
Inhaling buried fears in stones
And leaving air to rust.

When mourning comes to short lived mourners,
Theirs should not be over lived weepers,
For even in my sleepiness
My imagination grips unto
My thereafter madness.
