Morgan's Journey Poem by Rhonda Moody

Morgan's Journey

Rating: 4.8

Morgan Thomas, three years old
daughter of Misty and Curtis
Diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor
In April of 2007

Doctors told her parents it was cancer
and there was no known cure
they could try and make her better
but the outcome was unsure

As any parent would say
do everything you can
to keep our baby with us
and make her well again

They traveled to MD Anderson
a place where Cancer is cured
The doctors perform new treatments
and they experiment to find a cure

As months went by so slowly
Morgan was so strong and brave
she endured every procedure
in hopes to be well again

At home she had left her new brother
Keegan was one month old
she missed him and her family
but had Mommy and Daddy to hold

At one point in this battle
Doctors said she had a one percent chance
of the cancer leaving her body
of her living life again

Now things have gone much better
than the Doctors ever dreamed
No more Tumors in her brain
just a few cancer cells it seemed

A miracle, A Miracle, they all began to believe
as doctors and nurses called her their Miracle
The family was so relieved

They went home for a visit
but it didn't last for long
back to MD Anderson Daddy drove
as Mommy held Morgan, now sick and withdrawn

Words cannot began to describe how Morgan's parents felt
as doctors began to explain to them how the cancer had come back
they listened as the words were blurred when the doctors went on to say
it spread to her stomach and everywhere, the cancer was there to stay

As these words went through their minds Curtis and Misty knew
what the doctors were actually telling them, was Morgan's life would be over soon
What was thought to be a Miracle, was nothing more than a dream
and the only thing doctors could do now, is give her something to ease the pain

As Misty and Curtis called their family
they told them to come soon
to say goodbye to their baby girl
she will be going very soon

Lots of things went through their minds
as they stayed at their baby girls side
ballet classes and prom dresses, this she will not see
her graduation and wedding day, never to be a memory

As Morgan's time drew near, they knew what they had to do
plan a funeral for their daughter, something a parent should never have to go through
A pink little casket filled with satin and the word Princess written inside
just one word to describe their daughter who would soon lay inside

Then came the day for Curtis and Misty to lay little Morgan to rest
the hardest thing they will ever do for their only little Princess
The pain was so much more then they ever thought they could bear
It filled them with such grief and sorrow and left them in despair

Goodbye our little angel
your going to heaven above
Please say thank you to Jesus
For giving us you to love

A good Poem in poetic form. Yes it's hard to lose a child but she did what she came here for and then returned to spirit.. Well done.

Obviously it is a heart breaking story. No parent should have to go through that experience.Unfortunately we are living in an imperfect world. You did a good job of telling the story. It was engaging and entertaining.
