More Than Friends Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

More Than Friends

Their fondness for one another began long ago
As the sun lifted above the horizon into a sky of blue
When they were born… the two of them said hello
With look-alike features…sharing life as they grew

Similar appearances can sometimes lead to confusion
People often address each of them by the other’s name
Smiling and correcting or going along with the conclusion
When one causes trouble the other receives the blame

They can finish each other’s sentences in conversation…
If one is treated unfairly… the other staunchly defends
When apart they sensed a connection… not separation
Identical twins share a flame… they’re more than friends
