Monster Poem by Rebecca Hall

Monster

They will only ever see
Who you pretend to be
For they don’t see
The monster you really are
The claws grow
To draw blood
The teeth turn yellow
To show your decaying self
The eyes turn upwards
Showing that you are
Slowly dying
The wounds bleed no more
For you are not human anymore
They heal
Howl to the moon
Is anyone going to save you?
The mirror shows your former self
No more
