Moment Of The Last Breath Poem by DILIPBHASKER MATHRA

Moment Of The Last Breath

Rating: 4.0

My friend lies on the bed
Waiting for his last breath
To make way for his earth born soul
To say adieu from this land
Where he lived for others than himself.
Though thou art a man of great spirit
Thy name is an immortal concept of heroic glow
And the selfless deeds thou hath done
To change the face of this village
Is a matter of pride for everyone.
Thy name will remain radiant
In all those thou hath strived to nourish
The goodness of honesty,
And shall be luminous for the future
Despite the material body of thine
Lying before me sooner will go
Beneath the soil or burn in pyre.
We neither cast thy soul
Nor depart thy name from us.
Thus your demise might not cause
Any enfeebleness till thou live in our heart.
Ah, I remember those were the days
The treasure of golden paradise
And the thought and strength
Thou hath built up among us will ennoble our spirit.
Yet my heart mourns ‘tomorrow
I would miss you from all that thou might be’.
The death shadowed on thy countenance reveals
How the life that bonds us in this world
Is so short lived and vague.
What ever earned here is nefarious.
Perhaps the emptiness of emotion in thy face
Reflects the note of acceptance
To meet the path of heaven.
Ha! my friend I wish I were a swift falcon
To fly and accompany thy holy soul
Till the gateway of the gracious heaven.
That might be the great bliss
Thou shall bestow on me in this
Unprecedented moment of thy last breath.
