Mistake Poem by Anthony Weir

If the human brain is as wonderful
as we are constantly told it is -
why are we not living in Paradise?
Why are we the only stupid species?

The Fundamentalists have an answer:
Original Sin.
But of course a little thought
with our marvellous brains reveals
that the sin is not ours - but God's
(without the snake) .
To put it more scientifically:
we are (like the dinosaurs)
one of the blind alleys, evolution's
latest apocalyptic mistake.
